Each textile we frame is handled and assessed with care to provide the best framing solution for display and protection. It is important to have the opportunity to return the textile to its original form by removal of stitching, mounts and supports in the future.
Different forms of textiles will require different methods of framing. In all cases, the item needs to be supported so that it can be framed. It is important that we do not use adhesives on the material – items are stitched, laced and supported using methods that can be removed without harming the original piece of fabric.
Cath is always happy to talk through the methods used for textile framing – so, please feel free to ask questions during your framing assessment. When you have invested hours working on your needlework or have spent money buying a piece, you want to ensure that it is going to be framed using the correct techniques to ensure the best display and care of the textile once framed.
